In August of 2007, Interactive Transaction Services issued the first-of-its-kind on a college campus in America, the prepaid “Rock Dollar Card,” at Slippery Rock University. The card’s first function is that of a campus ID card. Additionally, the card is equipped with near-field technology and with the swipe of a cell phone, can be debited to pay for a coke from a college vending machine.
